
There comes a moment in storytelling most writers are least prepared for, one that teaches something about narrative point of view no amount of outlining or revision can anticipate.
It arrives in the draft when a scene finally works, the character’s voice honest and complete, the emotion arriving at full force, and the story around it quietly stopping. The scene had finally become exactly what it was supposed to be. Then it became a problem.
